Rival clubs plot to return for United star after 2026 World Cup, INEOS refused to let him go this year – Fabrizio Romano

Bruno Fernandes remains a key figure for Manchester United at the moment. The Portuguese superstar scored his 100th goal for the Red Devils in the 2-1 win over Chelsea over the weekend.

Fernandes has been a revelation ever since he traded the Estadio Jose Alvalade for Old Trafford at the beginning of 2020. He is inching closer to 300 appearances for the Premier League giants at the moment.

Despite turning 31 earlier this month, Fernandes has shown no signs of slowing down. The Portuguese has been deployed in a midfield two by Ruben Amorim this season to accommodate Matheus Cunha in the team, but has been equally influential.

Fernandes has already scored two goals in six games and has once again been one of the most creative players in the Premier League. However, with his contract expiring in 2027, the veteran midfielder’s future remains subject to speculation.

Turned down Saudi Arabia in the summer

Fernandes’ exploits have already earned him admirers in the Middle East. Al-Hilal were reportedly ready to pay United £100m for their talisman this summer, while the player was offered a fat three-year contract worth £200m.

Meanwhile, Al-Nassr reportedly approached him through Cristiano Ronaldo, hoping that Fernandes’ idol could convince him to move.

However, the player turned them all down, as he wanted to stay at the Theatre of Dreams. The Red Devils had no desire to let him go either.

While the Portuguese Magnifico continues to be decisive for Ruben Amorim, it appears that United could have a fight on their hands to keep hold of him next summer.

Bruno remains committed to United

Acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano has now shed light on Bruno Fernandes’ future in his recent Here We Go podcast. According to Romano, Saudi clubs remain hot on his heels despite being turned down this year.

Clubs from the Middle East are now planning to return for United’s talisman after the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will try to convince him to make the move.

For now, Fernandes remains committed to the Red Devils, but his future remains one to watch next summer, according to Romano.

Meanwhile, United are already planning to invest in the midfield next summer, with Carlos Baleba reportedly the priority target for Amorim. Angelo Stiller, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton also remain on the wish list, so Bruno’s potential departure could have a bearing on INEOS’ plans for 2026.
