Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes new Man United recruit Senne Lammens is a “huge talent”, according to Rio Ferdinand.
The club legend was speaking on his YouTube channel when he revealed that he had talked to the former Chelsea no.1 about the Red Devils’ latest signing:
“He let me know about Lammens because he’s a Belgian player, and he was just giving me the heads up as to what he’s like. He said he’s a huge talent, obviously not experienced yet but he thinks his style will be well-suited to the Premier League as well.”
“So that’s a recommendation from probably one of the best three goalkeepers in the world, Thibaut Courtois, so I’ll take that…”
“I keep seeing people talk about the talent and whatnot, but the problem is, can Man United afford to wait for talent to develop at this point in time? That’s the question.”
Lammens will be on the bench for the derby
Head coach Ruben Amorim has already confirmed that Altay Bayindir will be in goal when United face rivals Manchester City at the Etihad.
The Turkish international has started the first three Premier League fixtures, and he has already received plenty of flak for his performances.
However, despite Lammens’ arrival, it seems the Belgian will have to be satisfied with a place on the substitutes bench for now.
When could Lammens make his debut for Man United?
Unless Amorim has a change of heart about Bayindir, it may be the case that the deadline day arrival from Royal Antwerp will have to remain patient before making his first appearance.
Lammens may have to wait a while for his debut as there is no European football this season, and no domestic cup action until January.
