BACK David Tully Apr 30th 2026 Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand says he would be “very happy” if his former club manage to secure the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The France international is believed to be high up the shortlist of potential replacements for Casemiro, and Ferdinand has been speaking on his YouTube channel about his admiration for the player: “Tchouameni would be great, but is he available? I think he is a fantastic footballer. I remember the game between France and England.” “Majestic, he was strong. He was so commanding. He’s played in huge games, and he has the experience. I wouldn’t worry about him if we got him. I would be very happy to get him.” Doubts linger over Tchouameni’s availability There are several reports in the UK suggesting that the Red Devils have been given assurances that the midfielder will be on the market this summer. However, as Ferdinand points out, there are no guarantees that Real will sell him. Tchouameni has started 42 games in all competitions this season, and he remains a key player for the La Liga giants. There are even claims that the club are considering handing him a new contract. Man Utd will find it hard to replace Casemiro The Brazilian international has arguably had his best season in a United shirt. He has scored 9 league goals, which is the most he has managed in a single campaign during his whole career. At 34 years of age, Casemiro clearly still has more to give at the highest level, and fans were calling for his contract to be renewed after his latest goal against Brentford on Monday night. However, despite the fact that the Red Devils do have an option to extend his stay for another twelve months, they are unlikely to trigger the clause. That is purely down to his salary, which is £350,000 a week. Want more news on Man Utd?
