Man United have reportedly held internal conversations about the possibility of signing Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid.
The Red Devils opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Arsenal; however, everyone who watched the game could see visible signs of improvement from Ruben Amorim’s side, and potentially optimism heading into the rest of the season.
However, United are still keen to add more players to their squad this summer, and one position they want to address is defensive midfield. They recently saw their pursuit of Brighton’s Carlos Baleba ended by the fact that Brighton set an £100m plus transfer fee on the midfielder, so they now need to look at alternative options.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Man United are considering a move for Camavinga from Real Madrid, and have had ‘internal conversations’ to try and sign the French international. The report says that Man United are expected to propose an offer of around £69m, but it is not understood whether they would be enough for Madrid to sell.
Camavinga made 19 La Liga appearances last season for Real Madrid, scoring one goal and two assists, and there is no doubting that he would be a sensational signing for the Red Devils if they could pull it off.
Who else could Man United sign in midfield?
If they fail to get Camavinga, then reports have also linked United with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, who is expected to cost a similar fee to the French midfielder.
Wharton has previously attracted interest from Real Madrid and various Premier League clubs, but with the possibility that Palace could sell Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze this summer, they would likely be reluctant to let Wharton leave as well.
The 21-year-old made 20 Premier League appearances for Oliver Glanser’s side last year, and is expected to be a major part of the Palace manager’s team this season.
