Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin during the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old will be available on a free transfer after his contract expired with Everton. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can convince the player to join.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be a handy option
He has scored 71 goals for Everton during his time at the club, and Calvert-Lewin could prove to be a useful backup option for Manchester United. They need more depth in the attacking unit, and the 28-year-old has the quality and the experience to help them.
As per CaughtOffside, the striker is demanding wages of around £100k-a-week, and it will be interesting to see if Manchester United are willing to pay up. He might need to be more reasonable with his demands in order for the move to go through.
Even though he has not been at his best over the last 12 months, he was a key player for Everton at one point. He has shown his ability in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that he has the quality to compete at the highest level. He was labelled as a “top striker” by former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Man United could use more depth
Manchester United would do well to secure his signature on a free transfer. It would be a no-risk acquisition with huge potential upside. Manchester United would be able to improve a key area of their squad without investment, and it could free up funds to improve the other areas. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
The opportunity to play for Manchester United can be quite attractive for most players, and the 28-year-old could be tempted. This could be his final opportunity to play for an elite club.
