BACK Dylan Oakley Dec 30th 2025 Everton are reportedly plotting a move to sign a Man United duo in the January transfer window. Man United are heading into their next game against Wolves, hopeful that they can cement their place in the top six, after they beat Newcastle United on Boxing Day to climb up the table. It will be their last game of 2025, and Amorim would like to end on a high note. Heading into January, Man United are expected to have a busy transfer window, both with incomings and outgoings. They have already lost out on Antoine Semenyo, who seems to be joining Manchester City, but the Red Devils are reportedly keen to add more talent next month. However, to do so, they may have to make several sales to generate some budget, as they spent well over £170 million in the summer transfer window, so they could do with more cash. They could sell two players to Everton, according to new reports. Everton keen on Mainoo and Zirkzee Two players who have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford is midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and striker Joshua Zirkzee, both have been struggling to get regular game time under Ruben Amorim. According to the i, Everton are interested in signing both Mainoo and Zirkzee in the January transfer window, with the hope they can tempt them with more regular game time. The report says that Man United are unlikely to sell to a rival, especially both players, but Everton’s intent is still clear. Mainoo isn’t getting the game time under Amorim, and is expected to be worth around £40m. If he were to leave Man United in the January window, a loan move would seem more likely, as the Red Devils still views him as the future of the club. Zirkzee meanwhile has been linked with Serie A side Roma, who would like to sign him on a loan-to-buy deal, but Everton could swoop in and potentially land the Dutch international, should he be willing to leave Man United in January. It would be a shocking swoop from the Toffees, but one that could seriously boost Man United’s transfer budget for the rest of the month. Click here to see Man United’s latest transfer news.
