“Really looking forward to playing with him”: Luke Shaw outlines how summer arrival has impressed him in training

Luke Shaw is looking forward to sharing the pitch with Senne Lammens at Manchester United.

The English left-back has enjoyed a new lease of life under Ruben Amorim this season. He has brushed aside his injury troubles and has started all three games for the Premier League giants so far.

The 30 year old has looked a good fit in the left centre back role in Amorim’s back three, and has already registered 257 minutes of first team football. For context, Shaw managed just 587 minutes of football last season, 348 of which came from seven games in the league.

The Englishman has played alongside Altay Bayindir in goal in the Premier League this season, however, there could be a shift between the sticks at Old Trafford in the coming weeks.

Fresh blood between the sticks

United signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp and subsequently offloaded Andre Onana on loan to Trabzonspor to mark a whirlwind end to the summer.

Interestingly, Onana was restricted to just one appearance for the Red Devils this season in the EFL Cup, which turned out to be a disaster.

Lammens was brought in with the view to eventually become United’s No. 1. However, Amorim has confirmed that Bayindir will continue in goal for Sunday’s Manchester Derby at the Etihad.

The Belgian, meanwhile, has been training with his new teammates this week, and Shaw has been left impressed with what he has seen so far.

Bayindir now has little room for error

Speaking to Sky Sports, Shaw said that Lammens has looked really sharp in training.

“I think us as players, it’s really important to help settle in new players. Um, yeah, he’s been really good. He’s trained, you know, a couple of days, looks really sharp. I’ve been really impressed with him,” said Shaw.

“So, you know, that’s good. It’s always good, like I said, to have new additions. And, you know, I’m really looking forward to playing with him.”

With “Baby Courtois” breathing down his neck, Bayindir will have very little room for error at Old Trafford now.
