Real Madrid left furious with surprise Antony decision as United star continues to make headlines in Spain

Real Madrid have been left furious with Spanish football’s Disciplinary Committee’s decision to overturn Manchester United loanee Antony’s suspension.

Antony has enjoyed a terrific start to life in Spain after moving to Real Betis on loan until the end of the season.

The Brazilian winger struggled to replicate his Ajax form after joining United in 2022 in a deal worth £85 million.

The departure of Erik ten Hag further limited his game time at Old Trafford and eventually, the Red Devils decided to send him to Betis in the winter window.

The 25-year-old has quickly established himself as a key player under Manuel Pellegrini, having scored three goals and provided two assists in five matches across all competitions.

He suffered an early hiccup at Betis after he was sent off during stoppage time in his side’s 2-1 win over Getafe on Sunday for a rash challenge onJuan Iglesias.

The Brazil international was accordingly banned for one game, which ruled him out of contention for Los Verdiblancos’s outing against Real.

However, he is now free to face Los Blancos after winning an appeal against the initial decision. This has caused “total indignation” at Santiago Bernabeu.

According to AS (via Sport Witness), Spanish football’s Disciplinary Committee’s decision has infuriated the Madrid giants.

Real claim that the DC “skips the legal arguments” and have insisted “they are not going to bow their heads in the face of such foolishness.”

As far as Betis are concerned, the club’s hierarchy are understood to be delighted with the development heading into the crucial encounter.

Should Antony manage to dent Real’s title hopes with another impressive showing, it would be interesting to follow the reaction to the same in the Spanish capital.
