Ratcliffe’s favourite United player turns on him as he launches furious tirade against the INEOS billionaire

Manchester United icon Eric Cantona has launched a brutal attack on co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, slamming the INEOS billionaire for abandoning Sir Alex Ferguson’s attacking style of play and rebuffing the Frenchman’s own bid to lend a hand in revitalising the club. Cantona is Ratcliffe’s favourite United player Cantona has always spoken out when he thinks  United are going wrong, and it appears not even the fact that Ratcliffe idolised him as a player will stop him. It’s well known that Cantona is Ratcliffe’s favourite United player of all time. The British businessman even named the company that completed the minority investment in United last year, Trawlers Limited, as a reference to Cantona’s famous speech. In April, Cantona blasted Ratcliffe and the football leadership group for “destroying everything” at Old Trafford. Cantona aimed a dig at Ratcliffe for cancelling Sir Alex Ferguson’s lucrative ambassadorial contract as part of his measures to cut the club’s operational costs. Now, Cantona has criticised Ratcliffe again, this time revealing that he has reached out to the INEOS billionaire many times but he doesn’t appear to be interested. Cantona lambasts Ratcliffe Cantona said [as quoted by The Mirror]. “I have many other passions and projects, but I thought that for two or three years I could maybe put those to the side and try to give something to this club, which has given everything to me.” “But he didn’t seem interested. I did what I had to do, so I don’t feel guilty anymore. I tried my best.” The 59-year-old added, “Sir Alex Ferguson created a style of beautiful attacking football, which the new owners should have used.” “Instead, they destroyed it.” Meanwhile, United are back in action on Tuesday, 25 November, when they host David Moyes’ Everton.
