Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford may see his move to AC Milan scuppered by Manchester City’s Kyle Walker.
The English forward seems to have little future at Old Trafford as he was left out of the squad once again for United’s impressive FA Cup victory over Arsenal.
Rashford has been linked to numerous clubs but two of the most likely destinations appear to be AC Milan and FC Barcelona.
Both European giants would need to make adjustments to their playing squads and wage bill to ensure a deal could happen, however.
Former United striker and now senior adviser to AC Milan Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken out on potential rumours linking Rashford to Milan and stated, “everyone wants to play for Milan” and confirmed that they have interest in bringing the player to the San Siro.
Nonetheless, according to The Athletic, their interest in Kyle Walker could torpedo their chances of landing the United academy product.
Commenting on Walker’s potential move to AC Milan the publication report, “one subplot to all this is that, if a move to Milan were to happen, it would end their pursuit of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.”
This is due to the fact that “they only have one spot remaining in their squad for a UK player.”
Therefore, it looks like they will have to make a choice to which player will be more valuable for their team moving forward.
As mentioned before, Barcelona are also very interested in the forward but will need to sell and free up wage space to complete a deal before the end of the window. Juventus’ pursuit of Ronald Araujo might help in this regard.
The Red Devils will also be praying someone makes a move as the 27 year old clearly has no role in Amorim’s plans. He has not played any part in the last seven matches and has failed to make the squad in six of these games.
In addition, United themselves need sales or at least getting salaries off the wage bill if they are to make their own moves in the January window, and the departure of Rashford would certainly help in this regard.
