PSG prepare blockbuster £44m raid for red-hot United star after Luis Enrique demands his capture – report

Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a stunning raid to sign Marcus Rashford in a move which will delight Manchester United and Luis Enrique in equal measure, according to a blockbuster report from Spain. A Spanish Renaissance Rashford has enjoyed a resurgence in LaLiga after agreeing to join FC Barcelona on a season-long loan this summer. Despite falling foul of Ruben Amorim’s ire at Old Trafford last winter, and spending the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa, the forward has shone under the tutelage of Hansi Flick in Catalonia. Barcelona have a buy option worth £30 million in the deal with United to sign Rashford permanently at the end of the season – and his electric start at Camp Nou makes this price seem a bargain. Six goals and nine assists in 17 appearances for his adopted side has won him plaudits in Spain and England alike, with Thomas Tuchel adding Rashford back into his starting eleven for the Three Lions. However, with the looming prospect of the World Cup next summer in the United States, Rashford looks certain on to be on the plane and starting on his favoured left-wing spot for England – a dramatic transformation from his omission in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024. But it’s an admirer in France who may have the biggest impact on Rashford’s future beyond the tournament in America. Enrique Pushes for Signing Spanish outlet Fichajes reports PSG are “preparing an offer” worth around €50m (£44m) for Rashford to “tip the scales” in their favour over Barcelona. The French giant, who won an historic treble last season, consider the England international the “ideal player to bolster their attack” after a direct request from Luis Enrique to secure his signature. The Spanish coach believes Rashford “fits perfectly into his playing style” and has demanded PSG executives make the signing a “priority” this summer. Barcelona have the option to make Rashford’s stay in Catalonia a permanent one – but it requires Rashford’s approval to complete the move. And, according to Fichajes, PSG will attempt to muscle in on the deal and convince the forward his future should lie in the French capital. From United’s perspective, the prospect of receiving a far greater fee for a player with no place under the current head coach is an attractive one. INEOS would be overjoyed if a £44m bid arrived and, crucially, be accepted by Amorim’s most explosive ‘bomb squad’ member. But Rashford views donning the Blaugrana’s famed red and blue shirt the fulfilment of a childhood dream – and The Peoples Person expects the 28-year-old to follow through on his younger ambition come the summer, regardless of how strong an offer is presented from a different European heavyweight.
