Manchester United are back in action after the international break on Tuesday 1 April.

We play high-flying Nottingham Forest – a team who have occupied one of the Champions League spots since December, when they beat us 3-2 at Old Trafford.

Facing Nuno Espirito Santo’s well-organised defence and quicksilver attack won’t be easy, but Ruben Amorim’s men will have grown in confidence after knocking Real Sociedad out of Europe and beating Leicester City prior to the recent hiatus.

Here’s what you need to know before our Premier League campaign resumes…

HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOW

The match kicks off at 20:00 BST and is being shown live on TNT Sports in the UK.

Of course, you can start your night earlier than that on MUTV, with subscribers getting access to our pre-match coverage from 18:55 BST.

Danny Simpson and Danny Webber will be our pundits on the night, providing insightful analysis and reaction, and join Liam Bradford and Ben Thornley during the game itself for live radio commentary.

Highlights will be available from midnight following the game.

TEAM NEWS

Amorim should provide an update during his press conference on Monday, but some clues may be gleaned from access to United’s training session at Carrington this Friday.

Ayden Heaven was substituted in pain during the second half of our last outing, at Leicester, and it remains to be seen how long the in-form defender will be sidelined for.

Mason Mount returned to the matchday squad as an unused substitute and Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro were not thought to be far away from a comeback.

The Reds are still likely to be missing a host of first-team names though, including Amad, Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo, all of whom have been sidelined since February.

Forest’s primary concern is top scorer Chris Wood, after he was forced off with a hip injury during New Zealand’s World Cup qualifier against New Caledonia. The problem is thought not to be as bad as first feared, although the 33-year-old will be assessed on his return to Nottingham.

He has been ruled out of the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final at Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

FORM GUIDE

United are unbeaten in four top-flight outings, recording victories over Ipswich Town and Leicester City and draws with Everton and Arsenal since February’s 1-0 reverse at Tottenham Hotspur.

Bruno Fernandes and Ruben Amorim are up for the Premier League’s March awards, but Forest are also well-represented in terms of the nominations.

The East Midlanders beat Manchester City and Ipswich earlier this month, and have been in imperious form at The City Ground since the autumn, winning six and drawing two of their last eight games on the banks of the Trent.

RECENT MEETINGS

Forest have won each of the last two head-to-heads in the Premier League, prevailing in M16 prior to Christmas and winning this fixture 2-1 last season.

Those games sandwiched an Emirates FA Cup fifth-round clash in February 2024, with Casemiro heading home to clinch an important late win on our road to Wembley glory.

We have only lost on one of our last nine visits to The City Ground, although five of these games were played during the 1990s.

DID YOU KNOW?

United are looking to win back-to-back Premier League games this season for the first time, and back-to-back away league games for the first time since winning three in a row in February 2024.

We are unbeaten in our last six Premier League games that have come immediately after an international break (W4 D2).
