Porto make surprise move for talented United defender, Ligue 1 giants also spoke with Red Devils – report

Manchester United outcast Tyrell Malacia has become a man in demand in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

Ruben Amorim exiled five players before the start of pre-season, instructing them to train separately from first team at Carrington.

United kick-start their Premier League season against Arsenal today. Still, they have only managed to get rid of one fringe star so far, shipping out Marcus Rashford on loan to Barcelona.

However, in recent days, a number of clubs have shown interest in Malacia, who spent the second half of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch giants had the option to sign him permanently, but the 26-year-old failed to convince them.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report suggesting AS Roma held talks with United over a deal for Malacia.

Porto set their sights on Malacia

Now, Dutch outlet Voetbal International claim FC Porto are interested in signing the Netherlands international.

It is revealed that ex-Ajax manager Francesco Farioli is eager to work with Malacia.

The Dutchman previously attracted interest from Saudi Arabia. However, he decided to stay in Europe.

It is believed Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille also spoke with United but “didn’t follow through.” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-led Besiktas are also in the mix for Malacia.

However, Farioli is pushing to sign the United full-back, “sources close to the player” have confirmed to Voetbal International.

All eyes on Patrick Dorgu

Erik ten Hag’s first signing had become unwanted at United soon after Amorim joined due to his lack of athleticism and creativity.

The Portuguese tactician wanted a more attacking player for the wing-back role in his 3-4-3 formation. Accordingly, Patrick Dorgu arrived from Lecce as his first signing. Dorgu is still a raw talent, but big things are expected of the Dane, known for his incredible intensity.

In a poll on The Peoples Person, 49% of respondents think Dorgu will be the most important youngster at United during the 2025/26 campaign.
