Manchester United have a squad with a lot of new arrivals but the club is also keen on moving on some of the existing options.
The Red Devils however have players in the squad who are no longer in Ruben Amorim’s plans.
News – Journalist – Man Utd now want to sign £34.6million Bundesliga star to solve conundrum
The Portuguese tactician inherited Erik ten Hag’s squad midway through last season, but it has been very clear for some time now that Amorim is very keen on leaving his own print at Old Trafford. He doesn’t fancy many of the Dutchman’s players.
Among the many names on the list, one of them is striker Rasmus Hojlund. As per Corriere Dello Sport, the player is ready to say yes to Napoli, who want to sign him after Romelu Lukaku’s recent injury. However, there are some hurdles that need to be sorted out.
The Dane is demanding a salary of around £5.6m a year to sign for Napoli, which isn’t something that the Italian club isn’t particularly keen on doing. Amorim has sent a clear message to the striker by leaving him out of successive matchday squads.
Man Utd are very clear on their terms. They are asking for a loan fee of around €5-6 million with an option to buy for €35-40 million. The Red Devils are willing to cut their losses on him and want to move him on this summer.
The player, on his part, is keen that any loan this season includes a buy obligation rather than a buy option. Hojlund is keen on experiencing the continuity at his new club and doesn’t want a one-season arrangement.
Hojlund was a signing who was brought in with a lot of expectation. However, the Dane’s form has been wayward during his time at Old Trafford, and there is a sense that he made this big move before he was ready.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Hojlund. There are still a few bridges left for all parties involved in this deal to cross and the next few weeks should give an idea on how it exactly plays out.
