Goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has been named as our final Manchester United Women’s Player of the Month for 2024.
Tullis-Joyce takes December’s prize, presented by Estee Lauder, after earning a majority 35 per cent of all supporters’ votes in our poll on ManUtd.com and the United app, following another impressive month for the Reds.
The 28-year-old has ably stepped up as the team’s first-choice keeper this term, and progressed from strength to strength since making her first WSL start on the opening day of the campaign.
Phallon has kept seven clean sheets in our 10 league outings so far this campaign, more than any other goalkeeper in the top division.
The latest two of those shutouts came in her two December appearances, against Liverpool and Crystal Palace, as our no.91 helped keep both sides off the scoresheet in four and one-nil wins respectively.
That was after she had started the month with the USA women’s national team, as the shot-stopper’s early-season form earned her a maiden senior international call-up.
The American’s success in our latest Player of the Month vote follows victories for Grace Clinton (September and October) plus Geyse (November), ensuring she becomes the first goalkeeper to claim the award since Mary Earps won the inaugural iteration in January 2023.
Tullis-Joyce finished ahead of fellow nominees Clinton (25 per cent), Gabby George (22pc) and Dominique Janssen (18pc) in the fan poll, at the end of a month in which Marc Skinner’s team posted a 100-per-cent record on the pitch.
Prior to the ongoing winter break, which the Reds return from with an FA Cup fourth-round tie at home to West Brom on 11 January, United recorded the aforementioned WSL wins over Liverpool and Crystal Palace, as well as defeating Newcastle 5-3 in the League Cup to ensure our progression to next month’s quarter-final stage.
Thank you to everyone who voted in the Player of the Month poll, and congratulations to Phallon on winning the award.
