Our guide to City v United Women in the FA Cup

Friday 11 April 2025 11:32

Manchester United Women are bidding to reach a third-successive Adobe Women’s FA Cup final as we face local rivals Manchester City this weekend.

The all-Manchester semi-final takes place on Sunday (15:00 BST) and will be played at City’s Joie Stadium, part of the Etihad Campus.

Marc Skinner’s side will be backed by a strong travelling away support on the other side of the city.

Here’s our comprehensive guide to the game…

HOW CAN I WATCH AND FOLLOW?

United have already sold out our allocation for the encounter, but the game will be shown live on BBC Two on Sunday, as well as over on BBC iPlayer and via the BBC Sport website too.

Live radio commentary will be available on ManUtd.com only, with Niall McCaughan and Jess Sigsworth set to provide their take on proceedings.

PREVIOUS MEETINGSIt’s won one, lost one so far for the Reds against City this season, with plenty of intrigue surrounding this encounter.

Skinner’s side emerged 4-2 winners at the Etihad Stadium back in January, as Ella Toone netted a wonderful hat-trick to help earn three vital WSL points.

But just three days later, City got their revenge as Laura Coombs and Lily Murphy scored in a 2-1 defeat that knocked us out of the Subway Women’s League Cup.

TEAM NEWS

Skinner confirmed on Friday that Celin Bizet should be fine to play, after training throughout the week.

The attacker has contributed three goals to our cup campaign and has recovered from a ‘niggling bruise’ that kept her out of Norway’s recent fixtures with Iceland and France.

The boss doesn’t think there are any concerns after the break, so Hannah Blundell and Evie Rabjohn – who is back on the grass at Carrington – are set to be the only absentees.

City are waiting for an update on striker Vivianne Miedema, after she was withdrawn with a knock during the Netherlands’ victory over Austria.

THE OTHER SEMI

Chelsea host Liverpool at Kingsmeadow on Saturday in the first semi-final, with kick-off set for 12:15 BST.

Sonia Bompastor’s Blues are still in contention to win a quadruple, with the WSL leaders having already lifted the League Cup, beating City in the final.

The capital club also knocked Nick Cushing’s side out of the Champions League and are looking forward to a semi-final in that competition against Barcelona.
