Manchester United have identified Benjamin Sesko as their priority target, even though Ruben Amorim would have favoured another striker.
The Red Devils are still looking to shore up their new-look attack by adding a centre-forward capable of spearheading the club’s charge towards redemption.
In recent days, it has been confirmed by almost every major source around the club that MUFC have trimmed down their options to two: Sesko and Ollie Watkins.

While the England international’s stance on Man Utd’s interest remains unknown, it has been reported that Sesko is all in favour of a move to Old Trafford. The Slovenian reportedly prefers the Red Devils over his other top suitors, namely Newcastle.
The feeling is apparently reciprocal, as The Athletic journalist David Ornstein reveals that United have now decided to go all in for the RB Leipzig striker.
As the source explains, MUFC have been pursuing the 22-year-old for quite some time now, potentially dating back to his time at Domzal in 2019.
Ornstein reveals that Christopher Vivell, United’s director of recruitment, is playing a fundamental role in this operation. The German is all too familiar with the Bundesliga and has been keeping tabs on Sesko for a while, but has now decided to accelerate the negotiations after sensing danger coming from Newcastle, especially following Alexander Isak’s transfer request.
Why Ruben Amorim might not be entirely in favour of Sesko’s arrival
On the the hand, Ruben Amorim might be less enthusiastic about the Slovenian’s potential arrival. This is also reported by TalkSport journalists Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook, who insist that the Portuguese manager wants a new striker with Premier League experience under the belt, hence why he’s been pitching for Watkins.
In any case, Man Utd must offload the likes of Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, and possibly Rasmus Hojlund as swiftly as possible; otherwise, they’ll struggle to put their hands on a top-notch striker since they’re operating on a limited budget this summer.
