‘One to watch’: Sky Sports drop bombshell over United-linked Germany star who’s ‘very open’ to move

Manchester United retain their interest in VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller heading into 2026.

Indeed, the Red Devils have kept Stiller’s name on their shortlist of midfield targets, with Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg claiming the Bundesliga star is ‘one to watch’ in summer 2026.

He is also said to be ‘very open’ to a move away from Stuttgart, with the German outfit expected to demand upwards of €50 million (£43.4m) if they are to facilitate his exit at the end of the season, as per Sky’s Dennis Bayer.

Stiller, 24, has already enjoyed a stellar beginning to 2025/2026, starting in six of Stuttgart’s seven league matches as well as their opening two Europa League contests, whilst returning an impressive three assists and one goal.

Who else might United target in midfield?

United opted against bolstering Ruben Amorim’s midfield in the summer, making it a priority for INEOS over the next 12 months.

The hierarchy shelled out over £200 million to grant Amorim an entirely new frontline in the form of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, before also acquiring shot-stopper Senne Lammens on deadline day.

Talks were held with Brighton and Hove Albion starlet Carlos Baleba. However, nothing materialised into a formal bid, as the Seagulls were unwilling to sell, having had him in their ranks for only two years.

Eventually, INEOS chiefs conceded that not every area of the squad could be strengthened in one window, leaving fans to question whether any mid-season signings will be made in the middle of the park.
