Manchester United Women have had a busy January transfer window so far. They have signed Lea Schuller and Hanna Lundkvist, and are on track to complete a deal for Ellen Wangerheim. Hannah Blundell has also left the club on loan for the remainder of the season, joining Everton. There has been one permanent exit, though, as Geyse has left to join Club América in Mexico. Troubled United career Geyse scored an incredible 59 goals in 39 matches for Benfica before leaving for Madrid CFF. The Brazilian had a successful stint with FC Barcelona, winning the Champions League in 2023. She then joined United that summer but only managed three goals in 39 matches for the club. Geyse’s brother died early last year, and the player was given compassionate leave to return to her native Brazil for the funeral. Nonetheless, her agent accused United of trying to loan her out while she was away with her family. The Brazil international also spoke out on her loneliness and sadness, dealing with everything on social media. Consequently, the club sent her on loan to Gotham FC in March, where she stayed until the end of last year. New beginnings The club’s official website has stated that, “Manchester United forward Geyse has signed for Club América on a permanent deal.” They add, “she will now ply her trade in Mexico for the Eagles, alongside former United team-mate Irene Guerrero. We’d like to thank Geyse for her contributions to the club and wish her all the best for the future.” ℹ️ We can confirm Geyse has joined Club America on a permanent deal.
