Marcus Rashford has officially left Manchester United to join Barcelona, where he will spend the 2025/26 season on a loan basis.
United and Barcelona announce Rashford’s transfer
United have issued a statement which partially reads, “Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season.”
“Everyone at Manchester United wishes Marcus good luck for the season.”
Barcelona relayed the news via an official communication: “FC Barcelona and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Marcus Rashford until 30 June 2026. The agreement also establishes an option to buy the English forward.”
“The player have signed his contract as a Barça player this afternoon in at a private meeting in the presence of the FC Barcelona president, Joan Laporta; the director of the Football Area, and other Board members.”

Barcelona’s option to buy Rashford is believed to be worth around €30m.
Barcelona confirm Rashford’s shirt number
Rashford will wear the number 14 shirt during the length of his stay with the Blaugrana.

That number has been donned by some of Barcelona’s greatest-ever players, including Pablo Torre and Premier League icon Thierry Henry.
Henry tallied 76 goal contributions in 121 appearances for Barcelona. The Frenchman helped the Catalan giants to win two La Liga titles and the Champions League in 2008/09.
Rashford of course sported the number 9 shirt during his six-month loan tenure with Aston Villa. He has had the number 10 shirt for most of his United career but it was recently taken from him and given to new signing Matheus Cunha.
Since making his United debut in 2016, the England international has made 426 appearances, scoring 138 goals in that process.
He has also won five major trophies with the Red Devils.
