Manchester United have had a blockbuster summer transfer window so far. The club have managed to bring in the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils have done very well so far in bringing the kind of players that they have so far. Despite not having European football, they have managed to sign some very promising talents.
However, having made so many additions to the attack, the club need to focus on other positions including the midfield.
In recent days, Man Utd have been extensively linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba but could be priced out of a move for him.
The Seagulls starlet has been priced at greater than £100m. As talented as the 21-year-old is and despite the immensely high ceiling that he possesses, Man Utd might be forced to look at another option.
Man Utd, for example, would be better off going after someone like Sporting CP Morten Hjulmand. The Danish play-breaker could be available for just £43million this summer.
The 26-year-old midfielder is available for half the price that Man Utd would have to pay for Baleba. Both players play in the same position and this might be the better deal on paper.

Hjulmand has been one of the better players at Sporting CP for the past few seasons. Ruben Amorim knows him very well from his time at the Portugal club.
Baleba is younger than Hjulmand. The former might have the higher ceiling in the game and could prove to be a generational midfielder at Old Trafford but Hjulmand has more than enough quality to do the job.
Ultimately, it could all come down to how much more money Sir Jim Ratcliffe can provide with for Manchester United this summer, without breaking the FFP regulations.
If not Baleba, Hjulmand will be a great alternative. Let’s wait and see how things play out on this front in the coming weeks.
