Bryan Mbeumo has explained why he chose to sign for Manchester United, amid reported interest from a variety of top clubs after a fantastic 20-goal Premier League season in 2024/25.
The Cameroonian international has been one of the most productive forwards in English football in recent seasons, and has averaged 18 goal contributions per campaign since winning promotion with Brentford to the top-flight.
He hit a peak last year as he scored nearly one-third of all Brentford’s league goals, and so widespread interest was only natural. But for Bryan, it was only ever going to be United, he happily states in his signing interview with club media, which is available to watch now.

“From the start, I wanted to join this massive club,” Mbeumo explains, smiling as he sits inside Old Trafford.
“Now I’m here, I’m just really happy. For me, it’s the biggest club in the world. The fans are crazy, the stadium is amazing, and every player wants to play here.”
Questioned where his love for United comes from, Mbeumo explained that it stems back to his childhood, when he donned the red shirt for the first time.
“My first top was Manchester United’s top with Ronaldo behind,” he said. “It’s just such a big club and I’m really happy to be here.”
But it’s not only those childhood memories which inspired his move to the club. Mbeumo explained that he was convinced by the project outlined by head coach Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox, technical director.
“He [Amorim] seems really close to his players,” he said.
“His mentality, his winning thinking every time, this is the thing I need.
