Marcus Rashford’s ‘New Destination’ Revealed As Barcelona Transfer Dream Is Dashed

BACK David Tully Apr 29th 2026 Barcelona are very unlikely to keep Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford beyond his loan spell at the Camp Nou, according to reports. There have been suggestions that the La Liga club are hoping to secure him on loan for a second consecutive season, rather than trigger their €30m (£26m) release clause. However, Catalan newspaper Sport claim that the chances of Rashford remaining are extremely slim, despite having scored 3 goals in his last 4 league games. It is believed that a “new destination” is now on the cards for the England international. Where could Rashford end up? Tottenham are thought to be the team likeliest to come forward at the end of the season, if the 28-year-old’s dream move to Barcelona does collapse. Of course, any deal for Rashford would be contingent on Spurs staying in the Premier League. Roberto De Zerbi’s side are currently in the relegation places, two points away from safety with four games left to play. Reports suggest that they will secure another signing, Bournemouth’s Marco Senesi, on a free transfer, but only if they retain their top-flight status, so it appears a similar arrangement could be put in place for Rashford. Is there a chance that he could stay at Man Utd? Sport don’t think that Rashford will be returning to Old Trafford even if Barca don’t secure his signature. The fact that the club have loaned out the player for two successive seasons indicates that there is no way back for him. OF course, things could change. It has been reported that interim boss Michael Carrick would like to keep Rashford, but even if he does become the permanent head coach, there is no guarantee such a U-turn is possible.
