Marcus Rashford blames United for big problem that has made life difficult for him

Barcelona forward Marcus Rashford has seemingly hinted that Manchester United are to blame for a long-standing issue that has held him back for most of his professional career.

Rashford rediscovering himself at Barcelona

Rashford joined Barcelona during the summer transfer window after it became clear that he no longer had a future at United.

His relationship with Ruben Amorim irreparably broke down shortly after the Portuguese coach’s appointment. Rashford spent the latter half of the 2024/25 campaign out on loan at Aston Villa before joining Barcelona in July.

He has looked like a player reborn in Spain, notching three goals and five assists in 10 appearances. Rashford’s most memorable performance at Barcelona so far was his heroics in the side’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Newcastle. He scored both goals for the reigning La Liga champions.

Barcelona are believed to be very happy with Rashford’s contributions and rumours are already rife that they are planning to make his stay at Camp Nou a permanent one.

Inconsistency has been a persistent theme throughout Rashford’s career, and Thomas Tuchel was quick to acknowledge this during their time together in the September international break.

Now, Rashford has shared his thoughts on the matter and it appears he believes that United should shoulder some of the blame.

Rashford’s claim

Ahead of England’s qualifier against Latvia on Tuesday, Rashford was asked by ITV [via Daily Mail] about Tuchel’s assessment.

Rashford replied, “For sure, consistency is a massive part of it. I feel like I have been in an inconsistent environment for a very long time, so it is even more difficult to be consistent.”

“But I completely agree, I think consistency is what I need to bring into my game and I am looking to do that.”

He continued, “I want to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible.”

“When people talk about consistency, in order to be consistent in anything not just sport, you need consistent variables in your life and the way you train.”

“We have just had so many changes so far in my career but I have to look forward and that it definitely one of the things I want to put right and improve on to be at my best more often. When I am at my best I really enjoy everything about the sport.”

Meanwhile, United are back in action on Sunday when they face Liverpool at Anfield.
