Manchester United have assembled a decent squad using the recently concluded summer transfer window. They brought in the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Senne Lammens this summer.
Three attacking reinforcements and one defensive reinforcement have been made by Christopher Vivell & Co., but things haven’t kicked off on the pitch. The attack is yet to come into fruition and Lammens is yet to make his debut, having only arrived on Deadline Day.
Meanwhile, it looks like the club has already started planning for the future. As per Fichajes, Manchester United are one of the many clubs interested in signing talented Spanish central defender Dani Vivian from Athletic Club.
Vivian has a release clause in his contract worth around €40m. This has made him a very attainable prospect for top English clubs with Aston Villa and Newcastle also interested in him, alongside the Red Devils.
The 26-year-old defender has been a mainstay in Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Bilbao setup for some time now. However, should a club trigger his very attainable release clause, the Basque club don’t have the power to stop an exit.
Vivian is a typical Spanish defender. He is very comfortable with the ball at his feet and can also hold his own, defensively. In the air, he almost always wins his aerial duels, even against physical strikers and would be a good option to have in a back three.
Although signing the Spaniard isn’t a priority for Man Utd considering the options they already have, it is a luxury that they might want to have, as a club, going forward. All top clubs around Europe have two starter-level players for each position to ensure no quality drop-off. Vivian would be exactly that and let’s wait and see if the club makes a move for him in the near future.
