Manchester United do not want to sell goalscoring asset for less than £50 million – Journalist

Manchester United are open to selling one forward talent but won’t sell for a bargain fee of less than £50m this summer.

This coming summer, it’s the beginning of the Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe era at Manchester United, and there are several positions which need to be addressed.

We all know which areas need to be strengthened, with central defence and midfield the most urgent, considering how awful the current options are.

But with a pretty bloated squad already, with most of the group injury-prone and/or just not good enough, sales will need to precede significant incomings.

As it’s well known, selling players who cost nothing for a high figure, is the absolute ideal situation in order to obtain pure profit to use in the transfer budget

Now, Graeme Bailey has shared an update on the potential departure of one player with us.

Manchester United won’t be selling Mason Greenwood on the cheap this summer

We spoke to HITC’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey and discussed the current stance of United around Mason Greenwood.

MORE UNITED STORIES

Greenwood has been on fire this season in La Liga for Getafe, to the point where he has options this summer.

Here’s the latest in regard to Greenwood’s future.

“We know Atletico Madrid likes him a lot, Barcelona would like him but there are issues with finances for them.

“United are in a conundrum with him, in an ideal world they’d like to keep him but I think they’ve backed themselves too far into that corner, I don’t think even Ratcliffe will be able to oversee him coming back, but never say never.”

Continuing, he explained the most likely outcome this summer.

“The lad is very happy in Spain, his family are happy there. I think most likely another year’s loan for Greenwood, I don’t see them accepting a bargain fee of under £50m for him, so another year’s loan unless Atletico come strong.”

How has Mason Greenwood been playing for Getafe?

When Greenwood headed to Spain in September, he was returning from a nearly two-year hiatus and it wasn’t clear how he’d fare.

But he’s shone in the blue of Getafe and seems to be returning to his immense on-field talent.

This season, he’s grabbed eight goals and five assists in 29 games which has seen the interest arrive from some big clubs in La Liga.

He’s been very impressive on the right for Getafe and has shined outside of just goal contributions, with lots of successful dribbling and chances created.

It certainly seems like a loan this summer either back to Getafe or to one of the other interested sides, so he raises his value even more.
