Man Utd Warned Off Move As They Are Named As One Of 3 PL CLubs Pursuing France International Defender

BACK David Tully Jan 20th 2026 Man Utd have registered an interest in Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu, according to journalist Mirko Di Natale. The France international only moved to Turin on a permanent basis last year, and Di Natale says that while several English teams, including the Red Devils, would like to sign the player, he isn’t available for transfer: “I can confirm that Manchester United, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in Pierre Kalulu, but for Juventus, he has no price, he is NOT FOR SALE.” Kalulu joined Juve on an initial loan deal from AC Milan in August 2024 before he was snapped up last July for €14m. He has started all 28 of the Bianconeri’s matches this season. Why are Man Utd in the market for a centre-back? Harry Maguire is out of contract at the end of the campaign, and as things stand, he will become a free agent on July 1st. Talks over a new deal have been held, but there hasn’t been any indication that an extension will be signed. For that reason, Director of Football Jason Wilcox and Head of Recruitment Christopher Vivell may be scouring the market for potential replacements, with Kalulu seemingly among the potential candidates. Do the club need to replace Maguire? With the Red Devils seemingly returning to a back four after Ruben Amorim’s sacking, it could be argued that there are already sufficient options available. Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven are at the disposal of interim manager Michael Carrick, in addition to Maguire. However, as we saw in the Manchester derby, Maguire does have certain qualities that will be missed and his departure may leave a void that the club will need to fill.
