Manchester United have a number of talented players in their current squad and they have made some solid additions to the squad this summer.

Ruben Amorim has seen the Red Devils bolster the attack, specifically, bringing in the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

The club has predominantly focussed on signing attacking players so far. However, in recent days, the club has also been linked with Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba.

Man Utd are keen on signing the Cameroonian international but Brighton are not making it easier with their high price tag for him. Thus, the Red Devils might be forced to look at alternatives.

Now, as per The Independent, Man United are plotting a move to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as an alternative to Baleba.

The English midfielder is regarded as one of the most talented deep-lying playmakers to be playing in the Premier League has been a key component of Oliver Glasner’s Eagles setup.

Valued at around £70million, Wharton exactly won’t be a cheap addition to the squad for Man Utd. However, he would bring some much needed quality to the table.

This, coupled with the fact that the Englishman is much cheaper than Baleba would be this summer should make him a more attainable target for Manchester United.

Wharton is a very gifted midfielder. He is almost a Spaniard in an Englishman’s clothing, considering his technical ability on the ball. He is good both with and without the ball and his positioning is something that helps him stand out.

Should Man Utd choose Wharton over Baleba, it would still represent a very good signing and it would also allow Christopher Vivell & co. to make a move to sign other targets as well.

Let’s wait and see how things play out on this front in the coming days.
