BACK Man Utd target Elliot Anderson will be sold for a fee “significantly less” than his reported £100m price tag, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. Speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel, Jacobs said that the valuation for the Nottingham Forest midfielder has been grossly inflated in some media reports: “Don’t be surprised if the price is significantly lower than £100m. And it reminds me a little bit of Alexis Mac Allister too. Remember when he left Brighton for Liverpool, and for months and months and months it was £60m/£70m/£80m. He ended up joining Liverpool for £35m.” “Elliot Anderson’s contract is quite complicated, and I would be staggered if anybody needs to pay £100m to get him out of Nottingham Forest. It’s just a case of whether he leaves next summer, whether he does another year. And you know, when we were first speaking about this, we were thinking Forest – European football, Forest – ambitious project, Forest are going to build. They’ve basically got two squads, one for Europe, one for the first team. They made loads of good signings over the summer. But of course, his situation could also be influenced if they go the other way.” “So there’s a price, as far as I’m aware, for the summer, and I think it’ll be a whole lot lower than £100m. And if the unthinkable happened to Nottingham Forest, and for example, they were to go down, he’ll be even cheaper and available on the market as well. So, I would just reserve judgment on price for now, and I wouldn’t be too put off by this £100m number because my understanding is Elliot Anderson is available in the market if he leaves Forest in the summer for another number that is significantly less.” Man Utd have set their budget for the player It was reported earlier this week that the Red Devils would be willing to go as high as £60m to sign Anderson either in January or at the end of the season. That seems a fair price when you compare the former Newcastle midfielder to other options such as Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. There will be competition for Anderson Prior to the links with a move to Old Trafford, the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City had also been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old Anderson’s outstanding form over the last year means he is unlikely to be short of suitors if he does leave Forest over the coming months.
