Man Utd table offer for signing with £43m star willing to move to Old Trafford – Report

Hjulmand Denmark midfielder

Manchester United have gone about their summer transfer window business at a leisurely pace so far but with not long left before they kick-off their Premier League season against Arsenal, it may now be time to ramp up their transfer dealings.

The Red Devils have a lot of work to do, both in terms of arrivals and departures.

News – Report – £60.6million player prepared to secure Manchester United move

Players like Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony are on the lookout for new clubs while Man Utd have already managed to move Marcus Rashford on to Barcelona.

Now, as per Italian outlet Calciomercato, Man Utd have tabled an offer to sign talented Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand. The Danish play-breaker has been a mainstay for the Portuguese side for the past couple of seasons.

The Red Devils are said to have submitted a bid of around £34m for the 26-year-old midfield star but Sporting CP value him closer to £43m. Interestingly, he has a release clause of close to around £69m in his contract.

Hjulmand is a talented midfielder who has the experience of having played in a double-pivot. He is very good at the defensive side of things, but is also good at controlling the tempo of the game without exactly being expansive.

Having previously played under Ruben Amorim, the midfielder knows what exactly the Portuguese tactician would want from him. Thus, a re-union in Old Trafford would make a lot of sense from the club’s perspective, and as per CM, he would rush to reunite with his former boss.

Man Utd currently have Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte to play as defensive midfielders, although Amorim has used the former more as an advanced midfielder in recent times. The latter, on the other hand, is yet to get going at Old Trafford.

Casemiro’s best days are long gone and he neither has the consistency nor the fitness to shine at the top level. Hence, the Brazilian should be sold.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Hjulmand and if Man Utd make a concrete move to sign him in the coming days. Let’s wait and see how things play out and if the 26-year-old is seen wearing a Red Devils jersey next season.
