Manchester United know dreaming is free and are free to dream of anyone they wish to sign to reinforce the squad this summer. That said, the Red Devils will also know that they need to be realistic with their transfer targets.
As much as reputation garners a pull, from a sporting perspective, things have been very poor for Man Utd in recent seasons. The Old Trafford outfit don’t have any European football to offer to potential transfer targets this summer.

Thus, the kind of players that will be able to sign is quite limited. Hence, it is surprising to know, as per Caught Offside, that Manchester United are willing to sell Andre Onana to replace him with PSG shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Italian behemoth is one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment and is coming off an incredible season with PSG. The club won almost every trophy they competed in, narrowly missing out in the finals of the Club World Cup to Chelsea.
Donnarumma played a huge role throughout the course of the campaign, making enormous saves in key moments to help Luis Enrique’s side. His quality helps the French giants steamroll past oppositions whilst playing an exciting brand of football.
The ex-AC Milan shot-stopper currently earns around £168,000 a week (10m euros a season) at PSG and with a contract that expires in 2026, he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal. Man Utd are looking to take advantage and sign him this summer.
The 20-time English champions are willing to part ways with Onana for around £20m but that might be difficult considering the Cameroonian international is out injured with a torn hamstring.
Regardless, that shouldn’t stop Man Utd from pushing for the 26-year-old Italian.
That said, Donnarumma, at his stage of career, might view a move to Man Utd as a step down at the moment.
However, this doesn’t need to stop the Red Devils from trying though, as stranger things have happened in football. Let’s wait and see how it plays out.
