Man Utd are “not considering a move” for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports. Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that the Red Devils had held talks with the Brazilian’s entourage about a potential transfer to Old Trafford at the end of the season. However, the Daily Mail claim that Guimaraes is NOT a target for United ahead of the summer transfer window. They are completely focused on recruiting his teammate, Sandro Tonali, which you can read more about here. Newcastle won’t sell both midfielders While Man Utd have been credited with interest in Guimaraes and Tonali, it was never likely that their club would sanction sales for the two players in the same transfer window. It does seem as if Director of Football Jason Wilcox and the recruitment team have already decided that Tonali should be the priority. Even though the Italian may cost £100m, he is three years younger than Guimaraes, and there is a feeling that the Magpies would be more willing to part with him than their captain. Man Utd are looking to strengthen three positions Tonali is expected to be just one piece in the jigsaw as United look to improve the first-team squad this summer. As well as a midfielder, Wilcox is looking to buy a left-back and a left winger. There are three names under consideration for the left-back spot – Tonali’s teammate Lewis Hall, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown and Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly. Like Tonali, none of these players have low asking prices, so securing Champions League qualification is vital for bids to be tabled. Buy a Man Utd shirt for JD Sports here. In terms of the left wing, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande and Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye seem to be the preferred targets at this moment in time. Want more news on Man Utd?
