Man Utd Have Signed Ex Man City Player In Surprise Deadline Day Deal

BACK Man Utd have recruited Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Solomon Honor, his agency have confirmed. The 19-year-old has joined the Under 21 squad for the second half of the season after sealing a permanent switch from Ewood Park prior to the deadline on Monday evening. As it wasn’t a first-team transfer, Honor’s switch wasn’t high profile, and the club’s official website have yet to mention the move. However, the keeper’s representatives, Harwick Sports Agency, did reveal the news on Instagram earlier today. What do fans need to know about Honor? The teenager came through the youth ranks at Manchester City, spending eight years at the Etihad Campus before he left on a free transfer at the start of 2022. Blackburn snapped up Honor and he has spent the last four years in their youth ranks, but he gained experience of first-team football during two loan spells. The shot-stopper spent a month at Clitheroe and another six months at Atherton Collieries last season. This campaign, he has played once for Blackburn’s Under 21s in Premier League 2, three times in the Premier League Cup and another two games in the National League Cup where he faced senior opponents (Solihull Moors and Tamworth). Why have Man Utd signed him? To be honest, it is a question that is difficult to answer. Man Utd Under 21 head coach Adam Lawrence already has three other goalkeepers at his disposal. Elyh Harrison, Dermot Mee and Will Murdock are all available, so it remains to be seen whether Honor will actually get any game time over the coming weeks and months. It is fair to say that the Under-21s won’t be short of options in goal, but it remains to be seen whether any of them will make the step up to the first team in the future. Want more news on Man Utd?
