BACK Real Madrid could sell Man Utd transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni for £70m this summer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. Speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel, Jacobs said that the France international’s availability at that price makes him a realistic option for the Red Devils: “Tchouameni is a player that Manchester United like. They have made a formative approach on the player side. Real Madrid value him, if they are to sell, at £70million or more. That is not a terrible price, and that is within Manchester United’s budget. So I can see that one developing.” The likes of Elliot Anderson, and potentially even Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba, could end up costing more than Tchouameni, so you can see why United are keen on doing a deal for the 26-year-old. Is Tchouameni looking to leave Real? With his club seemingly willing to offload the player, a lot will hinge on United persuading him to make the switch to Old Trafford. As Jacobs mentions, an initial approach on the player side has been made to ascertain his interest. Some have suggested that a training ground fight involving Tchouameni and Fede Valverde could hasten the Frenchman’s exit from the Bernabeu, but Fabrizio Romano (among others) has played down the significance of the incident. Man Utd have a midfield budget It has been claimed that Director of Football Jason Wilcox has allocated around £150m to reinforce the middle of the park. Of course, that won’t all be spent on one player, and if Tchouameni were to be signed for £70m, that would leave £80m for further new additions. The Red Devils are looking at cheaper midfielders, such as Atalanta’s Ederson (valued at €40m/£35m) and Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller (€50m/£43m), so you can’t rule out up to 3 signings being made for the same position.
