Manchester United were saved from their blushes by the skin of their teeth against Burnley in the Premier League. Ruben Amorim’s side left it too late to secure a 3-2 win over Burnley, thanks to a very late stoppage-time penalty from Bruno Fernandes.

Ruben Amorim’s side left it too late to secure a 3-2 win over Burnley, thanks to a very late stoppage-time penalty from Bruno Fernandes.

It was a very important result for Ruben Amorim in the context of his future. The Portuguese tactician was under immense pressure with results not going his team’s way and the three points should give him some breathing room.

With the transfer deadline not far out, Man Utd need to make a decision on any potential new transfers that they want to bring in.

Amorim might want to bolster the squad in a position or two and there isn’t long left to do that.

Now, as per Caught Offside, Manchester United could be ready to sign talented Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher before the deadline.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder might be back in England after just one season in Spain.

The experienced Englishman is versatile and can play in multiple midfield positions. He emerged as an important part of Diego Simeone’s plans last season. Despite this, he might be one of the player who could be allowed to leave.

Gallagher registered 4 goals and 6 assists last season. He is valued at around £45m and at that price, he could add to some valuable squad depth for Amorim. This might also allow him to let Kobbie Mainoo leave on loan.

Gallagher has developed a lot since his Chelsea days. He has become a player who is much more experienced in handling multiple positions.

He could prove to be an option as a defensive and attacking midfielder and also as a wing-back.

It remains to be seen how this saga involving Conor Gallagher plays out on deadline day.

It could all come down to Amorim’s preferences and only time will tell how it plays out.
