Manchester United have made a decent start to pre-season under Ruben Amorim but the Portuguese tactician will know that the club is far from ready to compete regularly in the Premier League and hopefully try and win trophies.
The Red Devils need all kinds of reinforcements to bolster the squad this summer. That said, the club might find it difficult to try and sign potential ceiling-raisers who can come in and create an immediate impact at Old Trafford.

Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand has backed his former club to “break the bank” to sign talented Brighton & Hove Albion midfield star Carlos Baleba. Speaking on his YouTube channel, here is what he had to say:
“There’s only one name I’m thinking about, I’ve got to be honest, who I think fits the bill for what we need. An Amorim-type player as well. Physically great, can drive with the ball, can take it in all areas, very good tactically, great energy, great legs, Premier League experience, centre midfield. Baleba. That’s who I go and get. That’s my man. That’s the one I go and get. I go and break the bank.”
Baleba established himself as one of the key players at Brighton last summer, with the player impressing with his all-around midfield displays.
As the season went on, the players’ stocks only kept going skyward in the 12 months.
It has been mentioned that Baleba could be valued at around £80m-£100m which would make him an unbelievably expensive signing for Manchester United. Thus, this might not be a realistic target to focus on this summer.
Brighton are making it a habit of signing unheard-of names who have enormous talents and selling them on for huge profits.
The Seagulls did this with Moises Caicedo a couple of seasons ago and have repeated the same with Baleba.
It remains to be seen if Baleba remains a part of Brighton for the upcoming season.
Should he continue at the Amex stadium, it would be worth it for Man Utd to keep tabs on him for the summer of 2026 and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
