BACK David Tully Nov 10th 2025 Man Utd and Arsenal are the two clubs who are “leading” the battle to snap up Hertha Berlin teenage sensation Kennet Eichhorn, according to reports. English tabloid The Sun claim that the 16-year-old is attracting the attention of scouts after breaking into Hertha’s first team this season. Eichhorn has played 9 matches in Germany’s second tier, and he has also made an appearance in the DFB Pokal since making his senior debut against Karlsruher back in August. He is a holding midfield player by trade, and some have already likened him to Germany and Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos. The 6x Champions League winner ended up playing as a deep-lying playmaker in his latter years at Real, dictating the tempo with his superb passing range, and it remains to be seen if Eichhorn can reach those lofty heights. There is plenty of competition for Eichhorn Reports in the German media last week did mention United and Arsenal as being among the teams who have scouted the German Under-17 international. However, there are plenty of others tracking his progress, including Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City. How much would Man Utd need to pay for the midfielder? It has been claimed that Hertha have recently increased their asking price from €10m (£8.8m) to €20m (£17.5m) for Eichhorn, which is not a fee that is likely to put off potential suitors, especially if he continues to progress at the rate he has been. However, Premier League clubs do have one major disadvantage. Eichhorn is 16 years of age, and he won’t be able to move to England until he turns 18. That doesn’t completely end United’s hopes as they have sealed pre-agreements for other youngsters, including Cristian Orozco, so we shall see how this transfer story develops.
