Brighton have “no plans” to sell Man United transfer target Carlo Baleba during the January transfer window, according to reports.

There have been suggestions that the Cameroon international has become unsettled on the South Coast following speculation about his future.

However, talkSPORT claim that chairman Tony Bloom will not consider offloading Baleba before next summer.

The Seagulls owner believes it would be prudent to wait until the end of the season as there will be more competition for the 21-year-old’s signature.

Baleba has been widely praised by pundits

While the midfielder has had a difficult start to the campaign, he has received plenty of plaudits over the last twelve months. Speaking after Brighton came from behind to beat Manchester City in November last year, Alan Shearer said:

“Second half, it all changed. He [Baleba] came on and got among them. He showed energy, aggression, and he rattled them. Brighton were a completely different team in the second half and it started because of him, he played on the front foot. They should have scored four or five.”

“He was absolutely wonderful. He changed the tempo and performance on the front foot and defensively. They got the three points which they deserved.”

Man United need to strengthen the midfield before the summer

If Baleba is very much out of reach, the Red Devils may consider other options. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also reportedly on the club’s radar but the Eagles are reluctant to let him leave in January too.

A bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham is more realistic. The 20-year-old is said to be unhappy with his role since moving to the Bundesliga club in the summer.
