Man United are monitoring Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong following his excellent start to the season, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Speaking to The United Stand YouTube channel, Jacobs said that the Cameroon international has already been “scouted” by the Red Devils.
Etta Eyong has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in his first 8 appearances for Levante, having joined the newly promoted outfit for €3m from Villarreal back in July.
The 21-year-old has attracted plenty of attention with his performances, and there is an expectation that he will move clubs when the current campaign is over.
La Liga giants have targeted Etta Eyong
Reports in the Catalan media claim that the forward is on Barcelona’s shortlist as they consider long-term replacements for Robert Lewandowski.
While the Polish international could still stay at the Camp Nou for another year, he is expected to take on a less prominent role, with another player set to be brought in to lead the attack.
Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez is the top choice but the Argentinian international is regarded as too expensive for Barca. The Spanish champions could instead pursue Etta Eyong, who has a €30m (£26m) release clause in his contract.
Man United could look at Kane instead
While Etta Eyong is one option under consideration, Jacobs did suggest that others, including Bayern Munich‘s Harry Kane, could be targeted.
Despite the former Tottenham forward continuing to insist that he is happy in Germany, there is still a feeling that he could return to England either next summer or in 2027.
Like Etta Eyong, there is also believed to be a buyout clause in Kane’s contract, but the transfer fee required is a lot higher. €65m (£56.5m) would be needed to snap up the 32-year-old at the end of the season.
