Major update emerges on Leeds’ transfer pursuit of misfiring United star – report

Leeds United are not pursuing Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund despite reports suggesting he’s on their radar.

There were high hopes when Hojlund joined United in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta, but the £72million signing has failed to deliver a return on that investment.

He bagged a decent 16 goals across all competitions in his maiden season in England but so far this term, the Dane has managed just two Premier League goals.

United are believed to be in the market for a new and reliable goalscorer, casting doubts over the long-term future of Hojlund and his teammate Joshua Zirkzee.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Leeds – who are on the brink of automatic promotion to the Premier League – are keen on securing Hojlund’s services in the summer.

It was stated that Daniel Farke is an admirer of the 22-year-old and believes he would be keen on a switch to Elland Road.

However, according to TEAMtalk, a transfer to Leeds for Hojlund is not on the cards. The Championship side are indeed eyeing strikers but Hojlund is not on their list.

“In Hojlund’s case, his wages of £85,000 per week are still far beyond what Leeds are prepared to pay, and his transfer fee would also be far too high since Manchester United would never entertain a sale so early into Hojlund’s tenure that would make a book loss.”

“More importantly, Hojlund still committed to Manchester United and starting games and there is no suggestion yet Manchester United are open to a sale.”

TEAMtalk also note that it remains uncertain whether Hojlund will be allowed to leave, even if United secure a new striker.

Some forwards that continue to be linked to United include Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap, Samu Aghehowa and Benjamin Sesko.

Ruben Amorim’s men are back in action on Saturday when they go away to Everton. Kick-off is at 12:30 GMT.
