Manchester United came away from Craven Cottage with a rare clean sheet and all three points courtesy of a nervy 1-0 win against Fulham on Sunday.
Ruben Amorim once again opted to hand a start to Alejandro Garnacho despite rumours linking him with an imminent exit this January.
Despite not scoring, the head coach was once again pleased with the Argentine’s display but it remains to be seen if he remains in Manchester beyond the winter transfer window.
Chelsea and Napoli are the two clubs chasing his signature with the Serie A giants asking the winger to put pressure on United so that he can reunite with Scott McTominay despite their bid not being up to scratch.
Chelsea eyeing Garnacho alternative
The Blues were reportedly open to paying United’s asking price but as revealed by Fabrizio Romano, they have an alternate target in mind in Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich.
The team from Stamford Bridge are eyeing the Bayern wonderkid on a permanent basis while he has also has seven loan proposals in the bag.

Tel wants to succeed at Bavaria but the offer of regular minutes could sway his mind and should Chelsea land the Frenchman, they are unlikely to go after Garnacho any longer.
“Understand Mathys Tel case could still change, 0 minutes in 3 games and situation to be assessed again in the next days. Chelsea remain interested if Mathys will be open to leave, as revealed; 7 clubs have also requested Tel on loan.
Great news for United fans
“Decision still up to the player, as his desire has always been to stay and succeed at Bayern,” Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
He added that a meeting to try and break the deadlock was in the pipeline in a subsequent post while also claiming that the Bundesliga giants are open to acquiring Christopher Nkunku in return

This will come as great news for United fans who want Garnacho to stay. INEOS are unlikely to entertain a lowball offer from Napoli and with Amorim also warming up to the player, the Argentina international staying cannot be ruled out.
