Kobbie Mainoo showed his class again in Thursday’s memorable 5-4 victory over Lyon at Old Trafford, and the latest in his collection of decisive goals was his final one as a teenager.

On Saturday, he celebrates his 20th birthday, and we asked him 20 questions about United, food, music, fashion and his bucket list to mark the occasion.

It’s fitting that after such a special night in M16, Kobbie begins his birthday interview by paying tribute to the supporters.

Asked for one thing in football that he’ll never take for granted, Mainoo says: “The fans because of the support they have for us in the stadium; you hear them chanting all throughout the game and the love that they show.”

Kobbie goes on to talk about his dream dinner party guests, his favourite food spots in Manchester, the TV series he always comes back to on long journeys and which team-mate he’d pick to travel with.

Kobbie’s fantastic goal in Thursday’s 5-4 win inspired team-mate Leny Yoro to post a photo of Mainoo from his childhood, wearing a 2008 United shirt and a pair of sunglasses. It’s a picture Kobbie originally shared on his 19th birthday, so to celebrate his 20th, we thought we’d get him to replicate it for us!

It hasn’t been a straightforward second full senior season for Kobbie due to injury, but after his recent return and his goal against Lyon, the 20-year-old will be hoping to start this new decade in the right way: with another trophy for United. He’s already lifted the FA Cup, scoring the winning goal at Wembley last summer, and could play a crucial role as United target the UEFA Europa League.

Athletic Club stand in our way in the semi-finals, and the Basque side have the added motivation of a potential ‘home’ final. The ties will be played on Thursday 1 May and Thursday 8 May.

Before then, United take on Wolves in Sunday’s Premier League meeting at Old Trafford. Will Kobbie start after his impact off the bench in the Europa League quarter-final? Make your United Predictions now.
