Just one internal issue stands between United and their pursuit of Victor Osimhen – report

Manchester United are facing a significant hurdle in their pursuit of striker Victor Osimhen.

In late February, The Peoples Person noted Man United’s continued interest in the Nigerian star, with the team reportedly willing to pay Napoli €40 million plus Rasmus Hojlund in a part-exchange to get the deal over the line.

On Saturday, the race to sign Osimhen heated up with Arsenal entering the fray.

Although Arsenal could hijack United’s pursuit of Osimhen, this is not the only issue that could threaten to derail the club’s transfer plans.

Ben Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT this morning that United’s financial situation could hold them back from signing Osimhen.

“It could become irrelevant whether Osimhen is open to Manchester United, if Manchester United can’t afford that deal,” Jacobs explained.

“Right now it’s, financially, very difficult for Manchester United which is why, contrary to some suggestions, my understanding is (that) nothing is advanced yet. It can be both true that Victor Osimhen would like Manchester United and Manchester United simply can’t move for Osimhen.”

“That’s kind of where we’re at, at the moment, because of Manchester United’s PSR position, the fact that they may not get any kind of European football, the fact that they’re coming off a season, financially speaking, where they haven’t had as much European broadcast revenue because they’re not in the Champions League,” Jacobs concluded.

Given that United remain in the bottom half of the Premier League table, it appears as if European football is off the table next season, unless Ruben Amorim can lift his team to Europa League victory.

Still, United could free up some funds by offloading certain redundant players.

With Marcus Rashford attracting attention due to his fine recent form and Antony receiving praise at Real Betis, United could bring in some money from either one of these stars in order to fund Osimhen’s transfer.

Ultimately, United’s pursuit of Osimhen could certainly become a reality if they play their cards right and free up some finances ahead of the summer. After all, the striker could provide the firepower up front that United are desperately lacking this season.
