Journalist Claims Serie A Star Is Set To “Join” Man Utd “In June” As Club Look Set To Secure 1st Summer Transfer

BACK David Tully Dec 27th 2025 Roma midfielder Manu Kone is expected to join Man Utd next summer, according to journalist Francesca Teodori. Speaking to ASRomaLive (quotes via Sport Witness), Teodori said she has heard from several people that the France international is on his way to Old Trafford at the end of the season: “It’s not news, but it’s a fairly credible rumour. I’ve been told by multiple sources that he’ll leave Roma in June and join Manchester United.” “I don’t know if this has anything to do with the [Joshua] Zirkzee deal. He might have been included as a sort of counterpart. This remains to be seen, but what’s certain is that Kone is very keen on the destination and it looks like he could join United in June.” Kone is the type of midfielder Man Utd are looking for The 24-year-old is known for being a dynamic box-to-box midfield player, so it would not be a surprise if the Red Devils are interested in him. Head coach Ruben Amorim’s double pivot is really suited to energetic midfielders who can cover a lot of ground. The likes of Casemiro and even captain Bruno Fernandes to a certain extent are not really great fits. Kone has shown for both Roma and France that he can produce the type of performances which would improve United in the middle of the park. Amorim has hinted that the club may delay their transfer business Many have reported that the Red Devils are targeting a midfielder ahead of the January transfer window. However, when asked earlier this week if the club would be active in the market next month, Amorim said: “If we can bring someone good [we will sign in January], if not, we’ll spend money in the summer, I think.” Want more news on Man Utd?
