After spending the entire summer waiting for clubs to approach him, Jadon Sancho completed a deadline-day loan move to Aston Villa.
The outcast winger will spend 2025/2026 plying his trade at Villa Park, where he will also get the chance to play in the Europa League.
There is no buy clause included in the loan agreement – unlike Villa’s deal to sign Harvey Elliott from Liverpool for the campaign, which contains a £35 million obligation to make his transfer permanent.
Sancho is now in the final year of his contract with United. However, the club have the option of extending his terms by an additional 12 months – and they’ll presumably do so to protect his resale value.
How Sancho’s summer panned out
Back in June, when Sancho’s loan with Chelsea came to an end, the Blues forked out a £5m penalty to avoid paying his £25m transfer fee, instead deciding to send him back to Old Trafford.
His form in London was slightly better than what he’d displayed for United, but still left much to be desired.

As a result, the 25-year-old – and United – were made to go back to square one in trying to find him a suitor for this season. Sancho rebuffed approaches from AS Roma and Besiktas, the latter of which, at the time, would’ve seen him reunite with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prior to his sacking.
Juventus also established their interest in the forward, but never materialised it in the form of an official bid.
Sancho will never represent United again
Even though Sancho will return to M16 yet again next summer, Fabrizio Romano has assured that there is no chance he will play for United again.
“Manchester United will cover 20% of the salary of Jadon Sancho and Aston Villa will cover 80%,” explained Romano on YouTube, as cited by UtdJoshua03.
“Manchester United will have some bonuses linked to the performances of Jadon Sancho, and to the performances of Aston Villa, so Manchester United can also generate some money apart from the loan fee for Jadon Sancho.”
“Between Sancho and Manchester United, it’s completely over for present and future,” he continued. “Nothing will happen anymore, it’s over and they’ve already said their goodbyes, so Sancho and United, forget about that.”
