Italian giants close to deal that will pave the way for Marcus Rashford’s move from United

Manchester United’s January transfer window will have to include some sales if they are to bring any fresh faces in to add to Ruben Amorim’s underperforming squad.

Marcus Rashford is one of the names likely to leave Old Trafford this month having fallen out of favour with United’s new head coach.

Italian giants AC Milan are leading the race to sign the 27-year-old and are doing all they can to get the deal done in the coming weeks.

As reported by local media, the Serie A club are close to moving on wide man, Noah Okafor, in order to create space for Rashford in the squad.

Talks have taken place with RB Leipzig who are growing confident of landing Okafor, who is valued by Milan at €16 million.

The German club are hoping to take the 24-year-old on loan with an obligation of buying the Swiss forward at the end of the season.

Having seen their initial offer of the loan with a €12 million fee rejected, Leipzig have now offered €14 million as the end of loan fee.

However, Milan are holding out for the full €16 million which they are expecting to be met by the Bundesliga side.

This would then facilitate the move for United’s front man which will be seen as a major coup for not just Milan but Italian football as a whole.

Despite missing United’s last six games, Rashford is revered across Europe and if the newly crowned Italian Super Cup Champions can get a tune out of him, there is still a player in there.

The deal that will see Rashford leave Manchester is likely to structured similarly to the one that will take Okafor to Germany, meaning United will still need to be creative if they are to add to their ranks this month.

Amorim will be desperate for players with the qualities that suit his style, having seen his current crop painfully try to adapt to his system since his arrival.

However, signs of life appeared at Anfield on Sunday with a strong showing producing a creditable 2-2 draw against the runaway league leaders and arch rivals, Liverpool.

The Portuguese coach will now be looking for a consistent run from his side as they languish in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
