“It was amazing”: Lindelof reveals highlight of his United career as he bids club farewell in emotional interview

Victor Lindelof has pinpointed the FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City in the 2023/24 season as the highlight of his Manchester United career.

After the 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League campaign, United announced that Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans will be leaving the club.

Lindelof will officially part ways with the Red Devils once his contract expires at the end of the current month.

This will bring to an end his eight-year stay at Old Trafford, which saw him make 284 appearances. He won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

As he prepares for the next step in his career, Lindelof spoke to club media and reflected on his time at United.

He said about that final outing against Villa, “A perfect ending. Clean sheet and a win, so it was a great ending.”

“To spend it with my family here [on the pitch afterwards], as well, was special. So, yeah, I couldn’t have asked for a better ending.”

He added, “Yeah, I am proud of myself. It’s been a lot of ups and downs. But I mean, for me to be able to represent this club for eight years, it’s been an honour and a privilege, and a dream come true.”

Asked to name his favourite United moment, the Swede answered, “I think the FA Cup was great. Obviously, such an historic cup and to be able to win it was amazing.”

But, Lindelof insisted that the bond he struck with the fans is the thing he’ll likely miss the most.

“I’ve had so many good memories here. Just looking at the Stretford End here, I mean, I’m going to miss it a lot.”

“They’re [the fans] with us through absolutely everything, and it doesn’t matter the result, every single week, they come here and they support us and they sing their souls out.”

“I just want to say thank you so much for taking me in.”
