Long-term Manchester United target Jonathan David is one striker everyone is watching as he prepares for a significant move this summer.
The Canadian forward has been a standout performer at LOSC Lille for years, establishing himself as one of Ligue 1’s top goal scorers.
However, the French league may soon bid farewell to him, with the Premier League and Serie A emerging as his most likely destinations.
United are among the clubs interested in signing him, as highlighted by The People Person, with David carefully considering his options.
Previously, Le 10 Sport claimed the Red Devils had approached David’s entourage intending to sign him as a free agent.
Unfortunately, recent developments suggest that things may not be going their way.
Premier League clubs lead the race, but Serie A giants lurk
According to L’Équipe, Aston Villa and Tottenham currently show the most interest in David, holding talks with his camp over a potential Premier League move.
Interestingly, instead of competing with United for his signature, Villa and Spurs may need to be more concerned about Napoli and Juventus, who are also eager to secure the 25-year-old striker.
Given United’s financial situation, they may need to sell players to fund transfers, making their lack of pursuit of David seem like a missed opportunity.
With their ongoing struggles in front of goal, passing up a free transfer for a forward who has recorded 25 goals and 12 assists in 48 games could prove costly.
The advantage of signing Jonathan David is that his arrival would not necessarily disrupt United’s broader transfer plans.
The club could acquire him and still afford to sign another striker, such as Liam Delap.
