Manchester United opted to send Rasmus Hojlund on loan to Napoli after Ruben Amorim decided he was not good enough to lead the line for the club.
It was always expected, given the Dane managed a meagre four Premier League goals last season. The Denmark international was left heartbroken at being pushed aside as he wanted to stay and fight for his place.
The 22-year-old has started his loan stint strongly, netting four times in six games. And both the striker and his loan club are delighted with the arrangement.
The defending Serie A champions are obligated to buy him should certain conditions be met, and as per Fabrizio Romano, United are sure that Rasmus Hojlund will be a Napoli player come the summer of 2026.
Rasmus Hojlund: strong start to life in Italy
United are liable to receive €44 million once the obligation is triggered, with the Italian giants paying the Red Devils a €6 million loan fee.
Romano told Givemesport, “There is an obligation to buy, and I can tell you that Manchester United are quite convinced that that obligation to buy will be triggered for Rasmus Hojlund.
“Hojlund is expected to stay at Napoli. Hojlund is fully expected to be a Napoli player on a permanent transfer from Manchester United.
“The transfer fee is already clear. I told you about that. Let me repeat. It’s €6 million already received by Manchester United as a loan fee. €44 million for the buy option clause becoming an obligation under certain conditions.
Napoli guaranteed to buy Rasmus Hojlund
“But the expectation again of all parties involved: player, agents, United and Napoli, is for Rasmus Hojlund to stay at Napoli and for Man United to receive a total package of €50 million for Rasmus Hojlund.
“So that deal is fully expected to happen and that’s going to be obviously important money for Manchester United.”
INEOS won’t mind the fact that the former Atalanta ace has hit the ground running since his return to Italy. They will be glad that they will recoup a decent fee from his sale.
And fans will be hoping Benjamin Sesko can continue his good run in front of goal for the 20-time English league champions.
