“I’m hearing that…”: Well-connected source reveals Rashford set to make big sacrifice to seal permanent Barcelona move – report

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is prepared to make a huge personal sacrifice to complete a permanent transfer to Barcelona, a well-connected source in football has confirmed. Rashford in rich vein of form Rashford has been in fantastic form since leaving United and joining Barcelona on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window. He has emerged as one of Barcelona’s most important players in their title defence push, scoring two goals and providing an additional seven assists in 12 top-flight appearances. Across all competitions, Rashford has notched an impressive six goals and nine assists. The England international has made no secret of his desire to continue with the Blaugrana. Barcelona are also believed to be keen on retaining him, although club chief Deco recently ruled out a permanent deal in January. There have been claims that talks between Barcelona and Rashford’s camp have taken place over a transfer. A report covered by The Peoples Person also relayed that for Rashford to carry on at Camp Nou, he will most likely have to accept a salary cut. Speaking to Football Insider, former Everton executive Keith Wyness revealed that he has heard Rashford is open to reducing his demands. Wyness, who now runs a football consultancy advising top clubs, also claimed that Rashford’s terms will come down from £300k per week to £175k per week. Rashford set to make big sacrifice Wyness said, “I’m hearing it’s going down from about £300k a week to £175k a week. It’s a fairly big cut, but there may well be tax benefits in the way they can pay him in Spain. They tend to pay net rather than gross.” “I think that yes, he would take that. I think he is now really enjoying life again. You can see it in his game. He’s starting to respond.” “I think the team he’s playing in has the potential to go further. And although there may well be a salary cut, there will be bonuses.” “So I do expect that to go through. I think it’s probably the right move for him as a player. And I think financially, Marcus hasn’t got too much to worry about. They all want to maximise the revenue, but I think this is a smart move.” Rashford’s Old Trafford deal runs until 2028.
